About

CSA membership sign up will open November 11 for the 2023 season.

TurkeyFoot Farm is a Certified Naturally Grown small farm located in rural northwest Indiana. We grow organic, nutrient dense, tasty meats and vegetables for CSA and restaurants. TurkeyFoot Farm is owned and operated by Ry Hook. It is on the same homestead as Hook Pottery Paper his parents and teachers.

FARMING METHODS
On the farm we use regenerative, organic, and permaculture methods. To do this we use a limited tillage plan on the farm. Which includes using a walk behind tractor to mix in all our compost in the spring and cover crops through out the year. We never till below two inches deep so we don’t harm soil biology. For deeper tillage I use a broad fork which gently works the soil down to about 6 to 8 inches. All the vegetables are grown on about 1 acre. Which means we grow all our crops intensively, careful planning all our garden beds. Some of the beds get planted four to five times a year. On the farm we use crop rotation to disrupt the life cycle of pests, diseases, and weeds. On the farm we never use pesticides or herbicides.
Animals
On the farm the animals are in an intensive rotation program on about ten acres. We use the plan to grow better forage and in turn we rebuild soil biology. Which makes for happy and healthy animals.
