2023 Farm internships open December 1
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM – WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Our guiding farming principle is to manage the farm as a holistically contained ecosystem focused on regenerating the land, building soil, and enhance and increase biodiversity.
From holistic livestock management to soil fertility this internship provides you with a truly educational experience and leave you with the knowledge and skills of working on a regenerative farm.
You will be working alongside the farmer – extremely labor-intensive and rewarding. We are looking for people who have a deep interest in regenerating and establishing relationships with the land; the ideal candidate is a hard-working individual that is eager to learn, and works well with others.
It is essential for prospective interns to understand that farm work is very physical. We vary the tasks throughout the day; however, farm work is often repetitive by nature and very physically demanding. It is important to be realistic and honest about your physical stamina. We work in all types of weather conditions.
We’re especially excited to work with people who are interested in affecting meaningful change through farming. No prior farm experience needed but you must be 21 years of age.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
In the process of doing the work of the farm, interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in planting techniques, soil fertility, weed control, pest management, irrigation, harvesting, equipment use/maintenance, biodynamic implementation, and livestock management. We also have a small farm library which interns will have full access as well as wifi access and we will do our best to convey as much of our knowledge as we can while we work. All the electricity on the farm is produced by solar panels which is another amazing thing to learn.
SCHEDULE
The internship lasts 2 – 4 weeks.
